! ! ! ! ADVANCED TRICK TIP ! ! ! !

HOW TO DO A BACKSIDE BOARDSLIDE by Halston Rhodes

I love backside boardslides. It is a great way to get used to a rail before throwing down a bigger trick like a frontside boardslide or feeble/smith.

Step 1. Approach the rail at a moderate speed. Don't go too slow or else you won't have enough speed to slide the entire rail.

Step 2. I like to keep the rail at least 12'' behind me. This way I have plenty of room to throw my trucks over the rail.

Step 3. Ollie twards the rail while rotating your hips perpendicular to the rail. Make sure to stay centered over the rail.

Step 4. When landing you have two choices. A. Rotate your hips back and whip your board straight and land regular or B. Continue the rotation a full 180 and land switch.

Once you learn this trick see what types of terrain you can throw it on. Boxes, rails, ledges, benches, its limitless. Oh, and have fun. Cause if you're not having fun, whats the point?

Q: "What is the hardest trick you have ever attempted?" - Ryan DeGeare, Colorado Springs, CO

A: "Backflipping a pit of Alligators or course. The actual jumping wasn't that hard but the consequences were potentially the most dangerous. If all goes well no problem but if you happen to get a blow out or break something as you're approching the jump you could end up launching into the pit. I suggest starting by jumping a pit of turtles and working your way up." J Lee

SOUTH AFRICAS NEWEST ROLL-IN TOWER - Nice job Basil!

"After much greenbacks and a lot of slowly slowly catch a monkey approach they are complete. The aim was to have them ready for the LG Xtreme show hosted at the coca cola dome here in JHB on the 4th November. They finished the ramps and had it on the truck the evening of the 3rd November !! No one had even had the chance to set it up and ride it!!!

We worked through the evening to build it, set up the distances and crunch the bones to see if anyone could ride it. Hahaha amazing how when you know you have to ride it in front of a crowd and you have never ridden and jumped such an insane system, you kind of just do it because the alternative is far worse than snapping bones (this was setup on a solid concrete floor).

With about 3 hours sleep we hit the ramps early the next morning to see if anyone could do it…after a few (14 to be exact) failed attempts and plenty of bone crushing floor appointments, the one guy Quisto cracked it. Coming off the roll-in with a massive speed and a little wobbling he hit the ramp and launched about 3.5 meters into the air, doing a grap in mid flight and landing a perfect finish to slow his speed against the end quarter pipe with a 180 turn.

Guys …I almost shed a tear lol..it was spectacular and very much a crowd puller."
