THE GREATEST YEAR EVER FOR MOUNTAINBOARDING?

We'd say so. Not only did the Disney Movie "Johhny Kapahala - Back On Board" introduce thousands of new kids to the sport of mountainboarding but new Teams like Colorado's OneFive Crew, Utah's DirtStar Army, and the UK's BFC have raised the level of riding and have documented it in brillant new videos. 2007 also saw the development of the United State's Triple Crown of Mountainboarding Series. And what a series it was! Big again this year was the World Freestyle Championships and the NEW MBS Europe Demo Tour system! So, needless to say 2007 was a monumental year for mountainboarding around the world and with your help 2008 will be even bigger and better. And in case you missed an incredible issue of the MBS eNews this year click HERE to to see each month and get up to date on all the things that happened in 2007!

Keep it rollin' along and as always stay tuned to MBS.COM for all things mountainboarding. 2008 is bound to be even bigger and better.

2007 Report from Mason Moore

"I don't even know where to start so I'll start at the beginning with the season opener, the MBS “Roadkill Superstars Road Trip", where we went and rode totally new things and met new riders and just had a good time mobbin around doing what we love to do. Mountainboard. Then we moved on to the Echo Mountain U.S. Slopestlye Championships, that was probably the most challenging course I've ridden yet especially because it was a collaboration of big mountain and freestyle, but in the end minimal injuries and a good time was had by all (and the free pizza and Sobe was great!) After Echo came the U.S. Open, a three day event of all the mountain boarders in the U.S. coming together riding, partying, and competing. There was a slew of new tricks seen at this event and more young prodigies were discovered, last but certainly not least came High Drive. I was most impressed by this event mainly because High Drive required a totally different style of riding I wasn't used to but after a couple of runs I got the hang of it and it turned out to be one of the most memorable events of my "mountain board career" so far. But in between all of these events the DirtStar Army and I rode together almost every day and every weekend. We held many “learn to ride” programs to help the sport grow, and thanks to that new Johnny Kapahala movie this summer had the biggest turn out of riders ever. This season was certainly a good one and held many suprises and I hope the seasons to follow hold many more surprises as well."

WES'S SUMMER (LIFE) OF FUN.

"What I did on my perpetual vacation. This year I actually made an effort to ride new kite mountainboard spots that were in my area as opposed to just heading out into the water when the wind picked up. Highlight session of the year was shared with Rob R-Dog Goettling and some Mercedes tech. We started out at the most dumbest spot I’ve ever rode complete with gusty wind, lots of glass and a parked train just down wind under your kite. Ee then headed to the super smooth looking hill down the road. This may be the actual dumbest place but the sweetest too since it’s acres of smooth dirt. Actually its a toxic waste dump covered in a rope mesh spiked to the ground by wooden spikes which just happen to stick an inch and a half up and are spaced every 3 inches along the seams of the 8 foot rolls of rope mesh. Add the arsenic laden dust that we are kicking up and Im just not sure how cool the jumps off the 100 foot hill are after my balls are still glowing in the dark 3 weeks later. Road trips were made to Costa Rica, San Fransico, NABX in Nevada and the Pismo Beach Kite Expo. The only competition I entered this year was the Donnie Solomon Memorial Surf Contest where I had a strong showing while placing last in my first heat. Well, till next year...I mean right now....I’m going riding."
