Get set!
Welcome to the February edition of the MBS Rider eNewsletter!
Here in Colorado we've had one of the best snow seasons to date but that hasn't stopped us from continuing the mountainboarding action.
And we know you're out there in your own part of the world making those carves and hitting those jumps. No matter what kind of board you are on, it's always time to ride. We're really looking forward to the 2006 year and what it has to offer all of us.
As always stay tuned to MBS.COM for all things "mountainboarding".

FEBRUARY'S SWEEPSTAKES WINNER - CORE 16 - MAC CANNON, CA
"I can't say how excited I am about winning this. I can't believe it! This is the most exciting thing in my life. I've been riding for about 1 year now and I’ve been trying to save up money for the MBS Core 16 ever since it came out and honestly this is the first thing I have ever won. I ride at my parent’s house; they have 14 acres of downhill land perfect for mountain boarding. My dad is helping me build a track. Once again I am so excited. Thank you guys soooo much."
Sinceriously,
Mac Cannon

BACKCOUNTRY MOUNTAINBOARD COMPANY IN NEW ZEALAND LAUNCHES A TOURING EXPERIENCE FEATURING MBS MOUNTAINBOARDS

"Clients are first fitted with helmet, knee / elbow pads, wrist guards and gloves then are assigned a new MBS board. From here they will get aboard our customised Land Rover Defender with their driver and guide.
We escort them to a moderately sized learning slope where we give a ½ hour instructional session teaching speed control and allowing them to make controlled descents of the steepest of slopes. Once confident, riders re-board our vehicle and ascend to the top of various local hills, exit the vehicle and follow their guide down the mountain.
Riders then travel to a nearby freestyle area where the more adventurous of the group can try freestyle jumping techniques whilst the rest of the group work on their carving. We will offer a final challenging descent for the more confident of the group.
For all you riders looking to ride New Zealand's beautiful terrain give Rob Trepass a call at +64 (0)3 441 2344, rob@escapetoo.com or www.escapetoo.com

MARCH - -
2006 FRENCH LAND KITEBOARD CHAMPIONSHIPS
March 25th - 26th - Berck Sur Mar, North France
Coming to the north shore of France on the last weekend of March is the third annual French Championships of Land Kiteboarding. This is going to be a sick event, consisting of Europe's best boarders throwing it down for the French title on a long and sandy beach. The event consists of Freestyle and a timed race around a circuit with a short cut if you're willing to jump the inflatable buoy on the beach. This event is not to be missed and is certainly going to be a break-through kite event for all the land boarders out there!!! The location is on the long hard packed beaches of Berck Sur Mer about 1.5hrs west from Calais and is a kiters haven.

GETTING YOUR GEAR TOGETHER FOR YOUR UPCOMING RIDING TRIPS
by Dave Stiefvater
"The season is fast approaching and many of you are gearing up for the many sessions that lie ahead. This year more riders than ever will be traveling the globe in search of fresh dirt, some for fun, others for competition, and with the first event of the year coming up in Costa Rica what better time than now to prepare your gear bag and make sure you have what you need for the journey ahead.
Here's a list of what I like to have along for the ride:
Helmet - Hip pads - Knee pads - Elbow pads - Wrist Guards - Gloves - Spare socks - Towel - First aid kit - Sun screen - Shoe laces - Riding pants - Warm clothes - Swim suit - Leash - Complete spare wheel - Spare tube - Spare binding - Small back pack - Glasses or goggles - Duct tape - Wax - Tire pump - Tool bag - Allen wrenches - Adjustable wrench - Small phillips screw driver or interchangeable screwdriver - 4 bearings for tires - 2 bearings for trucks - Patch Kit, Slime or other tire repair item - Pliers - Extra set of suspension parts
Many of you may be flying to your events. Most airlines allow 2 free checked items and some may even allow a third if you don’t have a carry-on. To avoid any damage it’s a good idea to leave your board assembled and it's always a good idea to deflate the tires a bit (around 20psi is good). Box it or bag it and then check it. If you need to remove the tires remove your trucks also. Then tighten down all your hardware. And finally with all the new security precautions at the airport be ready to empty your tool bag and anything else you want to bring with you and if there are any questions contact your airline before you show up. And don’t forget to rip it up!"

Q: "Is MBS coming out with anything new for 2006?"
- Tallie Brown, Bellefontaine, OH
A: Yes. Stay tuned.

ROBOTS! - “I am a real person…and everyone else is a Robot”
Robot wars are heating up and MBS is selling aggressive tires and other components to Design teams around the USA who are looking for a competitive advantage…..
"Thank you so much for assisting me today. We are very excited to have found an aggressive tread to use on our robot in the FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST, which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology" is an international program established to encourage high school students to develop a keen interest in science and engineering in the hopes they will choose it as a career.
The ROBOT competition this year is robot basketball, requiring remote controlled robots to shoot a 9" nerf basketball into a hole in a backboard 8 feet off the ground. The field is mostly carpet with a 30 degree ramp at either end made of diamond plate steel leading to a slick surface platform.
We are designing a robot to play defense as well as offense. That's where your aggressive tread tires come in. We want to have a traction advantage over other teams that will use an aluminum wheel with gum rubber rough top belting as tread.
Thanks again!"
Best Regards - Gail Alpert - Team 469 Team leader
