"The mountainboarding season officially began on April 4th as the MBS van set
out from colorful Colorado into the wild west. Captained by Father
Mountainboard Jason Lee, we prepared ourselves for hours of driving, a
strict diet of Subway and McDonalds, and of course, a week of epic riding.
On the way through Utah we decided to shralp a couple known spots in the
Green River area and, with the help of the Onefive scout car, a few unkown ones as well.

JD Schralping some slash - Green River, UT

Brandon Johanns - Airing a pretty method - Green River, UT
Evan Carlson - Popping a late evening Indy - Green River, UT
At the end of the day we pulled up a stool at Ray's Tavern, enjoyed a couple fine beverages (except for the drivers of course), and pushed on to Salina but not before Mason decided to get a few more late nights jumps.
Mason Moore - popping late night jump action - Green River, UT
Unfortunately, that ol' van ran out of gas about eight miles before we got
there. In a clutch move, the Onefive car drove ahead to pick up some fuel
and bail J Lee out from yet another sticky situation. Whew! Before long, we
made it into town where we set up camp by the highway. The night went by instantly and mere seconds after the wake up call, the MBS van was chugging out of the campsite.
Today our target was Boulder City, Nevada, but more specifically, Bootleg
Canyon. But along the way we spotted what looked like an epic spots near Richfield, UT and then another behind a gas station in St. George, UT.

Halston Rhodes - Styling over a bush - St. George, UT
We got some gas, Funyons and Big League Chew and pushed on to Boulder City, NV and Bootleg Canyon
Bootleg Canyon is a mountain bike/bmx/wheelie board playground that
Boulder City has recently built up into a gorgeous wonderland of dirt to
dirt jumps and rythmic lines. Father Lee showed the kids how to ride when he
gapped this king sized double before it got dark. He's a bad man people, watch out.

J Lee - Doubling Down - Bootleg Canyon, NV
The next morning we got some McDonalds rode at a skatepark and then headed back to Bootleg Canyon for some further sessioning.

Evan Carlson - Putting his hand down with authority - Boulder City, NV

Josh "Hollywood" Knepper - Wheeling the Teeter - Bootleg Canyon, NV

Brandon - Jumping a little 15' gapper - Nice flowers - Bootleg Canyon, NV

Evan Carlson - Instead of riding the Teeter Totter he decided just to launch it.
Also worth mentioning in Boulder City was a lengthy drainage ditch where we got our carve on before packing up and heading into...Vegas baby! Sin City. We picked up Wes at the airport and headed straight to Primm and checked into our hotel with only one thing in mind: the buffet. Days in the desert had left us weak and hungry so we feasted like champions for only $9.00 (plus tax).
We woke, coffeed up and headed to the lakebed where the main event was the kiteboard jam. This place was nuts. Taking place on a dry lakebed, there was perfectly flat desert as far as the eye could see. For two days the sky was filled with dozens of kites piloted by all types, from recreational flyers to dirtbuggyers to mountainboarders. Wes Matweyew basically show the downhillers how to fly kites. We started out with a four meter bad boy which caused some of us less weighty kite flyers trouble keeping our feet on the ground. Afterward, we had a cool photo shoot with Wes and spent the rest of the day having fun on our boards with various forms of wind perpulsion. Oh, by the way, Wes is a kite god.

That night had nothing to do with mountainboarding, but was host to a great event none the less. Onefive team leader/shralp dogger, Justin "Juice Dutcham" Dersham turned 21 and we went out for a night on the town. The MBS van cruised the strip, ending at the Stratosphere, where we planned to check out the famous rides on top. JD officially became a man at the bottom of the tower and we celebrated all the way up. It took awhile to get to the top, but once we did it was worth it. Those Stratosphere rides are scary. J Lee "The Man" couldn't ride them all and I think I even saw Knepper cry a little bit. It's unclear what happened next, but I do recall getting back to our hotel somehow and Dersham gambling all his money away.
The next day we spent a little time at the kite jam and then headed north to the legendary cliffs of Apex, Nevada.
Evan in Blue - Benton in Red Charging Hard
You may recognize these cliffs from the picture on the patch kits MBS has been slingin' around. This spot was givin' these riders a tough time. Luckily, The Father was in a giving mood and offered up some incentives to anyone who could land the drop. Everyone was really nizzin' hard but Onefive team member Chris Adams was the one to go home with some shiny new glasses.

Nice!
On the way home, we hit one more spot in Gypsum, Colorado.

We found some nice dirt roads with cool switchbacks to slide around. There were some nice photos taken up top, glamour shots mostly, followed by victory runs all the way to the bottom. It was a great way to end a great trip.

After five days of conquering all types of mb'in terrain, we went our
seperate ways. Thanks to everyone who made the trip happen, I can't wait for
the next one. Knowing J, the van's probably already leaving."

Mason Moore Quote From Tour
"I had a blast on the tour, between staying at an RV park in tents scrambling to get my phone plugged it to a socket, or watching Evan bank off the slot machine in the early morning gamble sesh, I had a great time, hitting so many spots never before experienced, with the cliff drop, $20 wal-mart skate parks in Green River, UT, and hobo infested dirt park of the old strip, all i have to say is thanks Jason for that sweet trip, hope to do it a lot more often."

***RIDING DISCLAIMER*** Mountainboarding / Kiteboarding is an inherently dangerous sport. Always use protective gear while riding including a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wristguards. Always ride within your ability and use common sense.
