How did you get into the sport?
Went to a local ski shop and bought a big kite took it to a park and got my a$$ handed to me. Went back to the shop and bought a smaller kite, got my a$$ handed to me again and again and again…and again. I went home with a smile on my face, torn cloths and though “Yep, this is exactly the sport for me”

Current board quiver…..what you use it for: 
Right now I’m rocking the Pro 95 Retaliation; and I must say, this board is where it’s at! The wider binding platform enables crazy good board control and it’s just an all-around steeze machine. I keep the bindings a bit loose-ish to help with pushing and “footless-opportunities”.

Favorite style of riding: 
Man, I just like to ride whatever’s available at the time. Usually that consists of bombing crazy sketchy dirt roads and drops……lots and lots of drops……….I drop it like it’s hot. I’m also pretty fond of hitting kickers to flat……….who needs landings right?

What your ideal ride day would be: 
Wake up early, hammer down some Strawberry Frosted mini-wheats & a banana, then hit the trails and maybe try to scope out some natural features with the homies. Any day on my board is a good one though, so I’m not very picky.

Where you would like to go riding that you haven’t already: 
Dude, I’m seriously wanting to go overseas and hit up any of those mountainboard centers in the UK.  Those jumps LOOK SICK!

How did you get into the sport: 
Long, long ago, I was watching “The Core Tour” on tv and saw these crazy guys hucking themselves over a high-jump bar with these mysterious skateboard/snowboard/bike contraptions………A few years later, I purchased my first board from MBS and I’ve been hooked ever since!

Every year we have a World Mountainboard Day. A day where we make sure we get out on a board and have fun with friends no matter what. The great thing is that mountainboarders all over the world will be doing the same and that is what makes it special. It’s amazing then to see all the photos and videos that surface online in the days afterwards. This year we would like to make WMD bigger than ever! Saturday was 4 man boardercross at the Pikes Peak BMX featuring newly built starting gates giving riders plenty of speed to blaze through the track’s multiple pump features and three huge concrete berms. Thanks to the BMX crew for sticking around and operating the hydraulic gates and drag-race style start lights. Very cool.

Racing was  followed by Freestyle at the MBS “Backyard” dirt park featuring a newly constructed starting platform complete with stairs. A nice improvement over last year’s dirt mound starting area. This year we used two big blue wood jump ramps to launch over the 20′ and 16′ dirt table tops. Freestyle was followed by a stall jam and big beats by DJ Nicky “Stirrups” Geerse and DJ Matty “Dirtmonk” Kenoyer. The stall jam and DJ set was followed by the party to end all parties at the “Treehouse”. For more information on the “Treehouse” party talk to someone who was there. But as far as activities it featured all you can eat buffet, a dance party, a nail slam and a crate stacking competition followed by almost burning down the house.

Sunday was a mellow yet intense Freeride day starting around noon. Riders basically could choose from freeform mellow runs through the woods or more intense and technical rock drop areas. Honestly this was some of the funnest and amazing riding i’ve in a long time. Riding was followed awards and dinner and drinks and live music at the Sedalia Bar and Grill. American style.

A big shout out to all the sponsors that donated prizes. Altitude Sickness for the event shirts and hoodys, Cuso! for the sweet longboard decks. Team Phun for the cool beanies and bandanas, and Billy Goat Moving for helping move stuff. Also an ultra big thanks to Jon Diurba for making all the new Starting Gates and Freestyle Roll-in and an amazing milk crate stacking ropes course at the party and of course Matt Kenoyer for running the bobcat and moving a few tons of dirt. Thanks also to Greg Harris, Jade Lee, Cole Shipp, and Justin Dersham for helping run the event, mc and judge. And anyone and everyone else who helped out and rocked out.

Thanks a ton to everyone especially those who came from very far away such as the Utah crew from………Utah, the Silva’s from New Mexico, Gerald Paul New from Alaska, the Startin’s from Missouri, Mica from California via France, and Dylan Warren from Australia. Now everyone get out of my house and go home! : )

BOARDERCROSS, FREESTYLE & FREERIDE MOUNTAINBOARD WEEKEND

Colorado Springs, CO – The Fifth Annual “Fall Classic” Mountainboarding Event will be held again in Colorado Springs, CO home to the world headquarters of MBS Mountainboards. Top riders from around the world will be looking to win their respective categories and take home the “King of the Mountain” crowns by being the best in all three disciplines. Riders will be competing in Boardercross, Freestyle and Freeride disciplines. The Fall Classic is one of the largest mountainboard events in the United States and riders of all ages and abilities can compete. Expect to see top pros like Dave Stiefvater, Devin Garland and Cole Shipp from Colorado go up against Nicky Geerse from Holland and Dylan Warren from Australia among others.

Saturday starts off at Noon with the hotly contested Boardercross races at the Pikes Peak BMX Race Facility located behind Rampart High School near Lexington and Union. Riders compete head to head in this double elimination format race. The rider who can navigate their way the fastest over dirt rollers, jumps and through tight bermed curves while at the same time beating their fellow race contestants will be victorious.

The second half of the day will take place at the MBS “Backyard” dirt terrain park where riders can show off their launching, jibbing and freestyle skills. The park features a 35’ start hill, two 20’ table top jumps and several rails and box features. Expect the pro riders pulling the hugest airs, the most spins and the highest flips to come out on top. Saturday culminates with Freestyle Box Jam and Live DJ music on-site.

New this year is our Freeride Challenge. This takes place in the woods near Rampart Range Road 7 miles outside of Sedalia, CO. 30 minutes north of Colorado Springs. Riders compete in runs through challenging “natural” terrain performing the freshest tricks and smoothest lines while keeping wrecking to a minimum. There are several large rock features and a few small cliff drops to contend with. The “Velvet Elvis” award will be given to the smoothest rider of the weekend.

Look out! It’s bound to be a fantastic event for both riders and spectators alike.
