AUGUST 08 SLALOM SPECTACULAR

The first Slalom Spectacular was a killer event. A throwback to the early days of MBS racing. With the smell of burnt rubber in the air riders charged the asphalt course made up of a lot of skating and serious pylon navigation.

The course started out in the upper parking lot at MBS headquarters with about 15 seconds of pushing around islands on a relatively flat surface.....gotta keep your speed high on the top section and then drop down into the lower section made up of a sequence of pylon obstacles. Couldn't go too fast in this area or you would blow out of the course and ruin your time. And if you nailed the course your tires would be smelling of burnt rubber. Love that smell!

Riders were penalized 1 second if they knocked a cone out of place. If they totally missed a cone their run was DQd. Riders got 3 runs.

This event was a great taste of things to come. The pavement carving aspect of the sport has been low on the radar lately and it's time it makes a serious comeback.

Thanks to all the riders who made it happen and thanks a lot to Amber for doing the times and running the show!

See everyone soon at the upcoming "Back Alley Classic"! Sure to be a classic.
